"After you have pumped your brains for thoughts and verses, there is a better poetry hinted in whistling a tune on your walk." - Emerson
Hey up, -
Inspired by Todd's link to Andy's article on 'ultimate link baiting,' today, I would like to 'harp' on a creativity ditty. Andy brings to light some excellent points upon 'getting things done' in the business of baiting (coming up with an eye-catcher for a title and exercising some use of decor on your site being two insights I liked best). The suggestion of implementing and the definition of the kinds of 'hooks' is also read worthy.
I have always been one to gravitate towards thinking outside of the box; not because I am special, I just never liked being like everyone else (that's probably why I have no readers). I would like to garnish the readers' appetites for ideas with some of my own. Obviously, based on the popularity of my blog, you should read the nonsense I have to dispense.
- Word of mouth is a huge (and economically sound) way to attract providers of adulation. Participation in mediums such as myspace, blogs, and youtube is virtually free and can grant you some attention.
- If you are not working on orchestrating podcasts and video blogs, then you are going to miss the boat of pioneers that are already on it and about to raise anchor- destination: prestige and notoriety.
- People are curious creatures by nature and you can take advantage (I retract, not take advantage because that connotes a sense of deviousness, let us say capitalize) on this fact. Have you thought about creating t-shirts, stickers (bumper or scratch-n-sniff - anyone who creates scratch-n-sniff stickers deserves stardom...), advertising on eggs (yeah- it has been done and the man that came up with the idea made enough to forever see life from the sunny side up -sorry that was stupid), action figures (you never heard of SEO action figures?- that's because it's never been done!). Find some unique way to get your name out there to pique peoples' interests. Provide a link to your site and they will at least check you out- the rest is on you.
- Coming out with themed ezines each week and send it to clients and potential adorers for free
- Provide readers with interviews from respected icons from your field
- Create a 'stir' with press releases
I know most of you are going to say, yeah cm (contentmuse), we already know this stuff (c'mon- no one thought about the stickers..), come back to us when you got something worthy to say. Do you know what I'll say back- "..the love you take is equal to the love you make"- Beatles - I have provided some decent links here and given some ideas (I have more...believe you me), maybe if I get some feedback, it will compel me to further break open my creative piggy-bank. Until next time gadget, next time- contentmuse out!
